2008 Mega Ice 5’s HK Tourney '05/16/08
(Visited 560 times)The tournament was held at Mega Ice, Megabox in Hong Kong last May 6 to 10. We arrived in HK safely last May 4 (two days before the tourney), checked in at Regal Oriental Hotel, grabbed food, then took a nap because we were all exhausted from the trip.

Day 2, we went to Shenzhen China to go shopping. Ended up being lost and cannot find Dongmen Road. Good thing, we bumped at 2 Filipinas and helped us go to Dongmen. The place really is a shopping haven. After shopping, we couldn’t get out of Dongmen because it was raining hard and we couldn’t find a cab. We were stranded for 2 hours and we were lost again. ‘Twas like Amazing Race between 2 teams. Team 1 composed of Kae, Ace and Anne. Then team 2 composed of Jho, Chriska and me. We didn’t get to see them there, we tried to call them but to no reply. But we know they were ahead of us. Anyhow, we asked around but no one understands or speaks English. I asked this guy who speaks a little English but still couldn’t help us. Good thing, a girl heard us talking and she pointed us to the right direction. We took the train instead which connected us to HK terminal. We reached the pit stop first (hotel). Team 1 were more than an hour behind us haha.. ‘Twas a good race and an adventure we’ll never forget.

Day 3, our first game with WIHO. We didn’t win 5-0, but as per Kirsten, we really improved a lot and played well.

Day 4, 2nd game with Japan. We lost again 9-1 but our team did really well compared to last year 16-0. Well of course, we all know that Japan is a strong team but we did our best and it was a fair game.

Can’t breathe.. eewww.. lmao
I love Anita’s shirt “Jesus Saves” and He’s a goalie.
Day 5, 3rd game against Macau 0-0. We had a lot of attempts to shoot the goal but their goalie was really good. Kudos to her.

Day 6, 4th and last game with Malaysia 3-2. We lost again but twas an exciting game. Too close for the semis though. We gave our best and I guess we have to practice harder next time. That night, we went to Lan Kwai Fong to hang out and to have fun.

Day 8, went to Mongkok at the ladies night market. I bargained most of the time to all the stuff I like and it was really worth bargaining for. I can’t do that here in Manila though lol. But shopping at Shenzhen is still the best! 1 day is not enough to see all the shops haha..

Day 9, Jho and I went 2nd to the last minute shopping at TST. Headed back to the hotel and fixed our things. We felt an earthquake and we panicked because we were on the 13th floor and the building was kinda swaying. It was terrifying. Settled and went down as quickly as possible and checked out. We went to KCP mall after checking out to do our last (really last) minute shopping then headed to HK airport after.

It was a great experience overall. I had fun! Even though we didn’t win but there will be other tournaments next time. We placed 4th and it’s a big improvement for my team. Thanks to our Canadian players: Anita, Penny and Michelle for helping out. We really appreciate your effort. Hope you can join our team again next year. To our new coach, Carl, you did a good job. You were there from start to finish. Hope you won’t stop coaching us because we believe in your capabilities and skills. To the team, I know we had ups and downs during the tourney, but I know we’ll be a better team next year. We should all stay together and practice harder. :p
