Hockey Visitors from Canada '11/29/07
(Visited 870 times)I was contacted by Joven from Canada last September through this post. He brought along his wife Anita, who plays with the womens league in Vancouver Canada. They’re both goalies and they wanted to play hockey while in Manila. We met them in Megamall and played scrimmage one Friday hockey night. Unfortunately, Joven didn’t play because I can’t find extra goalie gear for him. Anyways, Anita was awesome! We had fun.

Hopefully more hockey players from around the world will visit Manila and play with the Filipino and Filipina hockey players at the Mall of Asia, Megamall or Southmall ice skating rink. Also, to see the sites and attractions from the 7,100 islands of the Philippines.

It’s so great to see women’s hockey in the Philippines! I’m a Fil-Am playing here in Chicago. It’s been too long since I’ve been a “balikbayan,” but if I come back, I’ll definitely contact you and bring my goalie gear!
Hi Barb! Wow! I saw your blog and amazed to know that you’re not just a hockey player but also a blogger too (just like me!). Yea, would definitely like to meet more Fil-Am, Fil-Canadian or other Filipino women hockey players around the world. That would inspire our women players to play harder and to join more tourneys locally and internationally. Keep in touch!
Next time I go to the Phil we have to have a shinny game goin
Hi Jeff! Yea definitely.
Sharm,
Nice to see that there is some hockey in the P.I.! I’m a Fil-Am Forward/Defense player from Alaska, playing for the U.S. Air Force Base Team here (the Elmendorf Eagles/Raptors). I’m going to pretty much be doing the same thing that Joven is doing (vacationing, natch) but I’d like to get in on a scrimmage game when I’m there in February. I’ll be flying in with my gear; will the local men’s teams be back in time from their respective competitions, or do you think it will be bad timing on my part? I’d like to get your perspective on that; thanks so much!
Rudy
Thanks Rudy! Yea, vacation plus scrimmage while in Manila would be great. I don’t think the men’s teams has a competition by February. The scrimmage is open to everyone and continuous games every Monday night at Mall of Asia, Friday and Saturday night in Megamall. So it’s not a bad time for you. We’re looking forward in meeting you soon. Let me know when exactly in Feb, alright? See ya!
