After months of waiting for the announcement from the organizers of World Ice Hockey 5’s 2007 as to when and where it’ll be held, finally, the long wait is over. The event will be on June 13 to 17, 2007 in Kowloon Bay, HK and we’re really excited to represent our country. Our team, Manila Ice Vixens, will join the womens division and this will be the first time that the Women’s Ice Hockey Association of the Philippines to compete in an International Tourney.

Slide3.JPG

We started practicing for this tourney a couple of months now and I’m proud to say that we’re doing better and better each week. The last Hockey 5’s was held in KL, Malaysia and it was a blast. The Asian Stars team (HK, Manila and Macau combined players) placed 3rd overall. This time, the hockey girls from the Philippines will rock the ice in 2007. Hopefully, the Philippines will make the country proud like what Manny Pacquiao did. ;)

Btw, we need sponsors! To those hockey-addict-readers of my blog who would willingly sponsor our talented and pretty hockey players (MIV) may get in touch with me through email or ym. ID is sharmskee. Thanks in advance! :)

so hapi for you na all set uli ang vixens to compete (INTERNATIONAL) pa! BEST OF LUCK!

miss you sharm!

2. sharm - '01/9/07

wow! least expected person to write a comment on my site… my future mom pa!?, but i’m glad you did. ;) anyways, at least now i know you like girlie stuffs pala.

i’m happy too coz at least we can represent our country as team Philippines and hindi nakiki-join sa ibang team (country).

we’ll try to ask for sponsorship but i think before they could sponsor us, we should win first… that’s what i heard. :p

Subject: “HELP”: AWSM Corporate Sponsorship & Equipment Donation

To Sharmskee & the Manila Ice Vixens ice hockey organization –

Dear Ladies,
Very briefly –

Your “puckin’ passion” and sincerity is VERY winning indeed!

Our company, AWSM Endeavors, Ltd. (”AWSM”), which specializes in international cultural exchange/entertainment/event-building, especially through the games of ice and ‘inline’ hockey, might be interested in becoming a “title” Ice Vixens Corporate Sponsor. AWSM would be willing to start with an initial sponsorship of $10,000 U.S. Dollars (USD = 490,614.62 PHP today!), PLUS a 30-set, FULL “Pro” kitting (”custom” team pants, gloves, helmets, sticks, bags, “Home” & “Away” game jerseys & socks, etc.) of the Manila Ice Vixens program based upon the Manila Ice Vixens commitment to travel-to and represent AWSM (and AWSM events) around the world. This would involve at least 2 - 3 international tournament/events per year (at least 1 European and maybe 1 Asian, North American or elsewhere). AWSM would help in fund-raising for traveling to these international events.

We would also be interested in organizing a women’s international “pursed” (MONEY!) tournament/event in the Philippines — one of the VERY FIRST of its kind in the international women’s game (as AWSM is already doing the FIRST-EVER elsewhere!). This tournament/event could be held in Manila (and probably in the Spring, late-April or early-May), wherever and whenever we both feel would be better for such an international event. If we are successful with both our association with the Manila Ice Vixens and in staging a women’s international tournament/event in the Phillipines, we would be willing to further ‘grow’ both our sponsorship, the event “purse” and the Manila Ice Vixens programs through additional financial commitment, maybe even on an ongoing “annual” basis.

Our telephone contact: I will forward on once we have your direct response via e-mail

With both the $10,000 USD cash sponsorship and the 30-set equipment donation this “AWESOME” sponsorship package totals well over $35,000 USD (1,717, 151.16 PHP to start!). This is a very serious and sincere inquiry and we would hope that our e-mail, interest and offer will be replied to one way or another.

Looking forward to your reply…

Regards,

Michael A. Kramer
President, AWSM Endeavors, Ltd.

Hi, Sharmaine –

I felt like it might be a good thing to let your “Vixens” & supporters know of our follow-up –

Michael

AWSM’s January 31 follow-up reply to “Sharmskee’s” January 30 e-mail reply to our inquiry (below):

*****

Sharmaine Miguel
Treasurer/Organizer
Manila Ice Vixens

Dear Sharmaine –

I really enjoyed your website, by the way!

Thank You for the “AWESOMELY”-quick reply to our interest & offer to help $ponsor, $upport & $upply your Manila Ice Vixens ice hockey program — I must say, your sweetness, sincerity & “Sharm-charm” are certainly VERY winning & convincing for all of us here at AWSM Endeavors, Ltd. (AWSM)!

I would like to reiterate our offer of a $10,000 USD cash $ponsorship, supplemented with an equipment donation of 30 (FULL) sets of player gear/equipment/skates to be utilized, maintained & hopefully enjoyed by the full (& soon to be “fuller”!?) roster of viv-ICE-cious “Ice Vixens” — in return for which AWSM would expect the Manila Ice Vixens to represent AWSM & AWSM events around the world (at least 1 or 2 internationally per year).

AWSM would like to further complement this commitment of $ponsorship & $upport by including an offer to have our AWSM “Pro-level” player/coaches come to the Philippines at least once a year to run 2 - 3 weeks of “AWSM Master-Class” hockey camps that would be open to ALL hockey players in the Philippines, but FREE to YOUR viv-ICE-cious “Vixens” (I would imagine that at least 1 week would be exclusively “Vixen-camps”).

We are also pleased & excited to hear of your interest & commitment to help make an international tournament/event in Manila a successful reality — I am very sure that with an attractive tournament/event package being put together by everyone that would be logistically involved, we could make the “AWSM ICE VIXENS” (!?) tournament/event “THE” Asian “CAN’T-MISS” event of the women’s international ice hockey calendar!

With the right working relationship/partnership in place, I believe that it is absolutely within reach for the “Ice Vixens” to eventually participate in IIHF & other international championships. As adventurous, experienced & dedicated hockey players ourselves, it is especially warming (& VERY “cool” as well!) for us to know that we would be helping others to achieve their most heartfelt “hockey dreams” & we look forward to starting our “AWESOMELY” AWSM “breakout” on our “breakaway-rush” to a mutually beneficial (& “Vixen-ish”!) “goal” of making the Philippines an Asian hockey powerhouse (with probably the MOST gorgeous group of “hockey players” anywhere & ever!)!

I’m going to be in Europe next week, as well as in late-March & early-April, but I’d like to somehow arrange to come to Manila in the next few months (or so) to first meet you & the “Vixens”, see the ice rink & talk about how we can both move forward with whatever is needed to get things done & make things happen. We will need to talk about equipment ’sizing’ & how to make sure that you can ‘cover’ a full range of players in terms of ages & sizes. We should talk about where & how the $10,000 USD would be spent & how to make sure that we maximize its effect & return in terms of benefits to the “Vixens” program, as well as to AWSM. Ultimately, I believe ALL of whatever we agree upon should be “put-down-in-writing” so boths sides know & can properly perform their “$ponsorship/partnership” obligations, assignments & duties in an expedient, efficient & effective manner. Obviously, you & I can & will maintain e-mail and/or phone contact thoughout.

For now (& until I next hear from you!), let me wish you, your family & ALL the viv-ICE-cious “Vixens” a VERY HAPPY, HEALTHY, HEARTY & HOPEFUL “HOCKEY NEW YEAR!!!” –

Warm, yet “ICY-COOL” regards,

Michael A. Kramer (you can call me “Michael”)
President
AWSM Endeavors, Ltd.

7. LARRY - '05/5/07

I am an American, married to a Filipina, interested in building up a business in the Philippines. I’ve been working at Optimist Ice Arena, in Jackson, Michigan, for a couple of years, and figured that possibly an ice pro shop could be in my future in the Philippines. I would offer skates, apparel, and equipment, at a good cost. Skate sharpening would be a must. Also, I may rent skates for public skating. I was interested in getting together further information on pricing of skates, apparel, and equipment, skate sharpening cost, and the cost of skate rental if available. Perhaps you could help me out with pricing. If things work out for me there, I will help sponsor the Manila Ice Vixens, and see about arranging international competition between the Manila Ice Vixens and teams in the United States.

8. sharm - '05/5/07

Hi Larry! I’m really excited to know about your plan on putting up a hockey shop in the Philippines. I’ve been planning to put up a hockey/skating shop as well but I don’t have the connection/sources in the US to import hockey equipment. In terms of pricing, sponsorship and other infos, we could probably set a meeting. You can email me or message me through yahoo messenger anytime.

15. ♥ shärmskèé ♥ » Skating and Photo Ops in MOA - '11/7/07

[…] Since our tourney in HK is fast approaching, we’ve decided to practice skating on an Olympic-size skating rink. I know that the team has been training really hard for the past 7 months in Megamall skating rink, but that’s not enough. We really need to train in MOA skating rink because it is the 1st Olympic-size skating rink in Asia and it’ll be an advantage for us. Anyways, here are some fun and exciting shots with my hockey friends Au (my skating coach), Louann, Allyson and Chriska. Je, Anne and Rachell were also there. Enjoy!Ü […]

Hello Sharm…

Indeed i am always delighted to know of empowered Filipinas out there representing Philippines.. Kudos!

Reading AWSM offer for sponsorship on 2007, i tried browsing
your archive but couldnt find further messages saying
how it progressed.

Just curious..i hope their sponsorship offered
pushed through… coz i really really wish your group get more support most especially from local biz group.

Estee Rose

17. sharm - '10/14/08

Hi Estee Rose,

Thanks for your support. Actually, we had high-hopes about that sponsorship but it didn’t push through. We didn’t hear from AWSM for a very long time until last month. The company will have a tournament here in the Philippines but not an ice hockey tournament. They will do a roller hockey tournament instead. I don’t know the exact details yet but they offered support for my team.

Anyhow, will keep you posted if things work out as planned between AWSM and my team. Btw, where are you from? Do you also play ice hockey? You can pm me or ym at sharmskee. Hope to hear from you soon. :)
